Multivitamins

A Multivitamin is intended to supplement a human diet with vitamins, dietary minerals, and other nutritional elements.  You can get them in a variety of forms including:
  • Tablets
  • Capsules
  • Pastilles
  • Powders
  • Liquids
  • Injectable Formulations
Multivitamins are widely used in combination with minerals, making them a multivitamin/mineral supplement.  This means they contain three or more minerals (that do not include herbs, hormones, or drugs).  It is common to have a slight deficiency in certain vitamins and minerals.  These can include:
  • Vitamin B12
  • Calcium
  • Chromium
  • Folic Acid (folate)
  • Magnesium
  • Vitamin B6
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin D
  • Vitamin E
  • Zinc
Multivitamins are a valuable tool for those with dietary imbalances or different nutritional needs.  This includes those on specific nutritional diets, no diet at all, women who are pregnant, and many others.  Just remember that your needs aren't going to be exactly the same as anyone else.  Make sure to get one that suits your own personal needs.

Benefits of Taking a Multivitamin
  1.  The obvious benefit of taking a multivitamin is to prevent deficiency.
  2. They combat stress.  There are numerous formulations that can help keep you mentally healthy as well as energize you.  They can help you keep up better in our fast paced world.
  3. Multivitamins can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer.
* While taking a multivitamin on a daily basis makes good nutritional sense, PLEASE remember it is not the cure for everything.  Some conditions and illnesses require medical treatment.  Do NOT use a multivitamin as an excuse not to see the doctor.

  1. I love the One a Day Women's formula. I get the Equate (Walmart) version and save a few extra dollars. :)

  2. I'm still looking for a new one. I need one that's formulated for workouts/sports. Especially with all of the running I've been doing!
